John Gray, the president of Richardson Group, has more than 25 years experience in the insurance business. He spent the first 13 years of his career at an insurance agency that focused on the ski industry and recognized how important it is to take a proactive approach to minimizing risk. Later, John moved on to apply the same "prevention first" principles to a sport close to his heart: ice skating. One of his first steps was to call in lawyers with a passion for, and experience in, risk management. Connecticut-based law firm, Edwards & Angell, partnered with John and together they built an ice rink insurance program that is the envy of the industry. In 1990, John formed the Richardson Group, which offers tailored insurance programs with an emphasis on "prevention first" for ice rinks, tire dealers and health clubs. The Richardson Group also offers personal and commercial lines of insurance.

A native of Canada, John came to the United States to attend the University of New Hampshire on a hockey scholarship. After graduation, he signed a professional contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs and later played five years in the World Hockey Association (WHA) with Phoenix, Houston and, finally, the Winnipeg Jets. John is a member of the UNH Hall of Fame.

In 1998, John received an award from the Northeast Ice Skating Managers Association (NEISMA) for his contributions in developing comprehensive and competitive insurance for the ice skating industry.
