John Gray, President, The Richardson Group
John has more than 25 years experience in the insurance business. He spent the first 13 years of his career at an agency that focused on the ski industry and quickly recognized the importance of taking a proactive approach to minimizing risk. Later, John moved on to apply the same "prevention first" principles to other sports-oriented industries including: ice rinks, ski slopes, health clubs and, most recently, sports venues. Working with Connecticut-based law firm Edwards & Angell, John developed risk management programs recognized for their success at helping prevent accidents before they happen. A native of Canada, John came to the United States to attend the University of New Hampshire on a hockey scholarship. After graduation, he signed a professional contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs and later played five years in the World Hockey Association (WHA) with Phoenix, Houston and, finally, the Winnipeg Jets. John is a member of the UNH Hall of Fame.
